NSC Conference Meet - Saturday October 18

Adler Park - Libertyville

Our conference meet on Saturday was definitely an up and down meet. I would first like to congratulate all of you who ran PR’s yesterday!!! What a great way to end the season. Scott, Nelson, Will, Emmanuel, Trevor, great races! I also want to thank all of you who finished your season yesterday. The skills you have learned over this season are going to translate far beyond running cross country. You have learned something about sacrifice, commitment, and hard work. It’s my goal that you are walking out of this season as a better human being than when you came in. I know I can certainly say that for myself and for each of you.

Well, where to begin with the race recaps? The only race we scored as a team was the Open race and we were second to last. In the varsity race we had two runners drop out and one was disqualified. Wow. I won’t get into a long diatribe about this, but those of you who aren’t in the results, please take a hard look at yourself and ask whether you are truly committed to this team. Dropping out of a race is never an option. If you’re still breathing and haven’t broken any bones, you finish it.

Trevor and Scotty had the races of their lives on Saturday! Huge drops in PR’s from each and both led our team in their respective races. They demonstrated what cross country in October is all about. Laying it all on the line for your team. I could not be prouder of you two! Keep it up.
